What will we do in therapy?

Our work together is not a quick fix or a surface-level approach. While we will absolutely help you reduce symptoms like anxiety, depression, and overwhelm, our focus goes deeper — toward meaningful, lasting change.

We take a depth-oriented approach, which means we’ll explore not just what’s happening in your life now, but the underlying patterns, experiences, and beliefs that shape how you relate to yourself and others. Together, we’ll gently examine your past and present to understand recurring themes, so you can begin to shift them rather than feel stuck in them.

Our work is collaborative and adaptive. We don’t believe in a one-size-fits-all model — therapy is shaped around you, your pace, and your goals. We meet you where you are, and we adjust as your needs evolve.

Above all, we care deeply about this work and the people we do it with. Therapy with us is an active, thoughtful, and creative process - one that supports you in developing greater self-understanding, more authentic relationships, and a fuller sense of freedom in your life.

What treatment methods do you typically use?

We integrate approaches such as EMDR, somatic therapy, and parts work in ways that are tailored to you:

  • EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) helps the brain process and release distressing memories so they no longer feel as overwhelming or present.

  • Somatic therapy focuses on the connection between mind and body, helping you notice and work through how stress and emotions are held physically.

  • Parts work helps you understand the different “parts” of yourself (for example, the part that protects you, the part that feels hurt, the part that pushes you forward) so they can work together more harmoniously.

  • Finding the right therapist matters. Research and experience both show that the relationship between you and your therapist is one of the most important parts of meaningful change.

Within our practice, we have several therapists who share a common foundation and approach, while each bringing their own personality, life experience, and areas of specialty. You’re welcome to explore each of our profiles to get a sense of who might feel like the best fit for you, and we’re also happy to help guide you in that process.

A good fit often feels like being able to exhale a little. You feel respected, understood, and not judged. You may not feel completely comfortable right away (therapy can take time to open up), but you should feel a growing sense of safety and connection.

Fit also goes both ways. We pay attention to how the work is unfolding together and will openly collaborate with you to make sure you’re getting what you need. If at any point it feels like another therapist might be a better match, we will support you in finding the right referral. Our priority is that you receive care that truly helps you move forward.

  • The length of therapy can vary depending on your goals, history, and what you’re hoping to work through.

At times, we can be fairly goal-directed and support shorter-term work when that’s appropriate. However, the kind of depth-oriented therapy we practice - especially when working with longstanding patterns, trauma, or relational dynamics - often unfolds over the course of several months or longer, typically meeting weekly or every other week.

Our intention is never to keep you in therapy longer than necessary. At the same time, meaningful change is often not immediate. The patterns we explore tend to have developed over many years, and working through them in a thoughtful, lasting way takes time.

We move at a pace that balances depth with forward movement. Our goal is to help you heal, grow, and experience real transformation as efficiently as possible—without rushing a process that deserves care and attention.

  • A neurodiversity-affirming approach recognizes that people experience and process the world in a wide variety of ways, and that these differences are a natural and valuable part of human diversity—not something that needs to be “fixed.”

This includes individuals who identify as neurodivergent, such as those with ADHD, autism, dyslexia, and other differences in how the brain functions and processes information.

Rather than trying to help someone conform to a narrow idea of what is “normal,” neurodiversity-affirming care focuses on understanding how you uniquely think, feel, and relate to the world. From there, we work to support you in ways that honor your strengths, reduce unnecessary distress, and build systems or strategies that actually fit you.

This approach also acknowledges that many challenges neurodivergent individuals face are not just internal, but are shaped by environments that may not be designed with them in mind. Part of the work can include identifying those barriers and helping you navigate them with greater self-understanding, self-advocacy, and support.

Ultimately, the goal is not to change who you are, but to help you live in a way that feels more sustainable, authentic, and aligned with how you function best.
