What are Postpartum Anxiety Disorders?
All new parents experience some worry. Caring for an infant is a hard job! But for about 1 in 5 women, that worry becomes unbearable. If you find yourself constantly worried about your baby’s health or safety, and no amount of logic or reassurance helps your mind and body calm down, you may be struggling with a postpartum anxiety disorder. Postpartum Anxiety disorders can begin during pregnancy or anytime in the year following your child’s birth.
If you are experiencing PPA, you are not alone and you deserve support.
At Her Space Therapy, we have helped many women overcome postpartum anxiety (PPA) and feel more grounded and confident as a parent. We have specialized training to help you find your footing and feel hopeful again.

Other types of Postpartum Issues
Birth Trauma and Postpartum PTSD
A traumatic birth experience can lead to symptoms of post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). If you are feeling constantly on edge and frequently reliving your negative experience through flashbacks and/or nightmares, you may be suffering from PTSD.
Postpartum OCD
Postpartum OCD has many of the same characteristics of postpartum anxiety. However, in addition to obsessive thoughts about their baby, women who have Postpartum OCD also experience compulsive behaviors, which can lead to shame and fear of telling others. It’s important to know that you are not alone and that Postpartum OCD is treatable.
Postpartum Depression
In addition to postpartum anxiety you may be experiencing symptoms of postpartum depression. Do you feel disconnected from yourself and your baby? Do you feel numb or empty? Do you feel like you’re on an emotional rollercoaster? Learn more here.
